NUR 492 Week 6 DQ 1 -
One thing we need to consider is the medical legal aspect of healthcare. So many times we practice and document in an effort to defend ourselves if needed. I have listed a link below about a patient that is bringing a lawsuit against her surgeon for putting in the wrong breast implants. The patient wanted silicone implants and the surgery center did not have them. They asked the patient's fiancé about what to do and he instructed them to use saline implants. So, the patient is bringing the lawsuit because they should not have taken information regarding her care from the fiancé since they were not married yet and she is also stating that they committed battery and negligence for keeping her under anesthesia while making these decisions. Thoughts?
