LDR 531 Week 3 DQ 5 -
I sometimes use the expression that, "there is a difference between hearing and listening. Someone will hear what you are saying but they are not listening to what you are saying." There are many processes or elements to the communication process in which some are cognitive and some of which are external to the cognitive process (items which are used as part of the communication process, e.g., telephones, letters, etc.). In the broader sense or explanation, communication consist of the sending and receiving of information between the sender and receiver. However, the receiving or inflow of information can be addressed in different ways that requiring greater processing power of cognitive ability.
Describe the two different ways in which we process information? How is it different or similar to the listening/hearing axiom I presented and which processing method do you think is more important in the organizational team/group environment?
