SCI 209 Week 5 DQ 3 -
This is our last week and we are moving into topics most people typically associate with oceanography: biology. In chapter 14, we will study animals that live in open water situations (i.e. the pelagic environment) and their adaptations. Let us start with adaptations for seeking prey. Are most fast-swimming fish cold-blooded or warm-blooded? What advantage does this provide? What are the two food sources of deep-water nekton? Can you describe and explain an adaptation of deep-water nekton that allow them to survive in their environment.
